MONTREAL – Georges Laraque announced today he will be the Green Party of Canada's candidate in the riding of Bourassa. Laraque has been Deputy Leader of the Green Party of Canada since 2010.
“Today is an important day for me. It is the result of many years of community involvement. I would be so proud to be chosen by the people of Bourassa to be their representative,” said Georges Laraque.
“We do not know the election date yet, but I want to launch my campaign now and take advantage of the summer to meet people in all of Bourassa’s neighbourhoods. I will need many volunteers. My election depends on the grassroots involvement of citizens: my success will be theirs,” added Mr. Laraque.
“Georges’ credibility in every sector of society puts him in an excellent position to become Bourassa’s next MP. Voters want an independent voice, not someone tied to a strict party line. Georges will always speak his mind. This is an important day for the Green movement in Quebec,” said Green Leader Elizabeth May, Member of Parliament for Saanich-Gulf Islands.
