This Saturday June 21 help the Guelph Greens launch the first major canvassing effort in Guelph in preparation for the by-election. We expect the by-election to be called in the first two weeks of July for August.
Help the Guelph Greens identify the 9,635 electors (19.5%) who voted Green in the provincial election. Given that voter turn out in summer by-elections is as low as 22% all we need to do is identify everyone who has already voted green, convince them of how important it is for them to vote – and we will have won our first seat!
In other words, we don’t have to convince anyone new to vote Green. We only have to get out everyone who has already voted Green out to vote.
If you live too far away you can help by campaigning remotely using the Virtual Phone Bank. During the March 17 by-elections more than 10,000 calls made by Greens remotely. To get involved in the Virtual Phone Bank email [email protected] and [email protected] in Guelph and they will arrange for training on the system.
Canvassing is easy and fun!
We’re using a Let Elizabeth Speak brochure as our canvassing literature: 80% of Ontario voters believe Elizabeth should be included in the TV leaders debates – so 4 out of every 5 voters will agree with you on the doorstep – it’s an amazing canvassing experience. This is the best campaign school you’ll ever get – and will be great in helping prepare your team for the general election. Bring a car load of people from your riding!
Here are the details of the canvass. If you have any questions, you can email Neil or Alison whose emails are in the cc field above. I look forward to seeing you there! Please let Alison and Neil know you’re coming if possible so they can plan to have the necessary amount of (beer) Tofu burgers!
