OTTAWA, Ontario, and CALGARY, Alberta — The Green Party of Canada (GPC) today expressed its sympathy for all those affected by the unprecedented flooding in Calgary and Southern Alberta.
The GPC also praised the efforts of civil authorities and first responders who are working so effectively to protect people during and after the evacuations currently under way.
“Southern Albertans are doing their part in this emergency,” said William Hamilton, Alberta Representative to the GPC Federal Council, from Calgary. “People are staying alert, staying dry, staying smart, and staying safe. We have bigger things to worry about right now than our mere partisan differences. I’m sure people across southern Alberta will get through this emergency and come out of it stronger than ever together.”
On the local level, the party is mobilising its members to assist in cleanup and restoration efforts.
