Green Party Expresses Sorrow for Victims of Violence Following Quebec Election

OTTAWA - The Green Party of Canada is saddened and horrified by the fatal shooting last night at Pauline Marois’ Parti Québécois victory party in Montreal.

"Violence in the political arena is never acceptable, no matter how much we don't like the result. Non-violence is a core green value, and one that I hold to dearly,” said Richard Noël, the Quebec Representative for the Green Party Federal Council. “My heart goes out to the family of the man killed, and those injured."

The Green Party joins the family of the fatally injured man in mourning their tragic loss, and wishes a speedy recovery for those who were injured.

“I am devastated by this senseless and disturbing act of violence,” said Elizabeth May, Member of Parliament for Saanich-Gulf Isalnds and Leader of the Green Party of Canada. “I offer my sincere condolences to the families of the victims of this shocking tragedy.”
