TORONTO – Today Elizabeth May, Leader of the Green Party of Canada and MP for Saanich–Gulf Islands, is pleased to announce that Toronto lawyer, animal rights advocate and environmental activist Camille Labchuk will be the party’s candidate in the upcoming federal by-election in Trinity–Spadina.
“Camille is a brilliant and incredibly hardworking individual with strong Green convictions, and there is no doubt in my mind that she will make a great representative for this community,” said May. “I am immensely pleased that she will be our candidate on June 30.”
“It is a great honour to represent the Green Party of Canada in Trinity–Spadina,” said Labchuk. “I look forward to this opportunity to give back to the community I’ve been lucky to call home for many years, and to raising the issues the other parties don't want to talk about.”
May and Labchuk will join Green Party of Ontario (GPO) Leader Mike Schreiner and Tim Grant, the GPO candidate for Trinity-Spadina in the upcoming provincial election, at a Green rally at the University of Toronto this evening.
