(OTTAWA) – The Green Party of Canada is pleased to announce the nomination of Larry Colero as its candidate for the upcoming by-election in South Surrey—White Rock.
“Here in BC, we are seeing what can happen when just a small team of Greens brings a fresh approach to politics. It’s a game changer,” says Colero. “We need more voices in the House that bring bold, common-sense solutions to the mounting challenges we face today.”
“I am especially motivated to champion democratic reform in the House of Commons, and to ensure the discourse is respectful and focused on meeting the needs of Canadians. We are witnessing a deepening divide between the wealthy and under-privileged, and we are hearing from the global scientific community that we are not doing nearly enough to combat climate change. There has never been a more critical time to elect Greens in Canada.”
An ethics educator and professional facilitator, Colero has taught corporate ethics as an adjunct at UBC’s Sauder School of Business and SFU’s Beedie School of Business. He has also taught public service ethics for government ministries, including Citizenship & Immigration Canada.
Elizabeth May, Leader of the Green Party of Canada (MP, Saanich-Gulf Islands), said:
“I am thrilled that Larry has agreed to represent the people of South Surrey—White Rock as our Green candidate. He brings a great deal of integrity and experience facilitating collaboration among leaders. Larry's values and commitment to integrity in parliament would be a huge help as I work to instill more respectful debate.”
Colero previously ran in the riding in the 2011 and 2015 general elections as the Green Party of Canada candidate and recently ran with Andrew Weaver’s BC Green Party in the May provincial election for Delta South.
