Judy N Green is a contestant for Green Party of Canada leadership

OTTAWA – The Green Party of Canada has accepted the nomination of Judy N Green as a contestant for the party’s leadership.

Voting will take place from September 26 to October 3, online and by mail-in ballot. The party will announce its new leader in October. The new leader will replace Elizabeth May (MP, Saanich-Gulf Islands) who stepped down in November last year after 13 years in the position.

Judy N Green was born in British Columbia and has lived and worked in five provinces. She started her career as an airframe technician with the Canadian Armed Forces and raised her family while completing an honours degree in computer science from Acadia University. While completing her Masters of Computer Science from Carleton University, Judy worked on cutting-edge high-tech solutions and went on to own and operate four vastly different small businesses.

In 2014, Judy returned to Nova Scotia, the home province of her husband of 37 years. Last year, she went from presenting the “Heading towards Extinction” seminars for XR to running for the Green Party of Canada in West Nova. She finished third, earning 12.69 per cent of the votes, more than tripling Green support and winning the Student Vote.

Judy and her husband have a son and three grandchildren.

All Green Party of Canada members in good standing are eligible to vote in the leadership election. For more information on contestants, contest rules and how and when to vote, go to
