(OTTAWA) - The latest Nanos Research poll shows the Green Party of Canada is poised to win seats in the upcoming federal election.
In an interview on CTV National News, pollster Nik Nanos said the story in his recent poll is the rise of the Green Party in B.C. “The upside for the Greens is that it seems that their support in British Columbia is concentrated on the Island of Vancouver, which means that it could actually be efficient at generating…seats for Elizabeth May.”
“I am honoured to work with exceptional candidates who will be outstanding MPs,” stated Elizabeth May, Leader of the Green Party of Canada and MP (Saanich – Gulf Islands). “Green MPs will always put Canada ahead of party. While pollsters are catching up to the reality we will win seats, they have yet to realize the scope of that reality.”
The latest provincial elections in New Brunswick and PEI support Nanos’ observations, where voters recently elected Peter Bevan-Baker, Leader of the PEI Green Party, and David Coon, Leader of the New Brunswick Green Party.
Similar results were also seen in B.C. provincial and municipal elections, where voters elected B.C.’s first Green MLA, Dr. Andrew Weaver. In B.C.’s municipal election, Green municipal councilor, Adriane Carr, was easily re-elected after receiving the highest percentage of votes.
