Debate agreement unprecedented in Canadian politics
(OTTAWA) - Statement from Julian Morelli, Green Party Director of Communications:
“We are pleased to accept the national broadcasters’ proposal, along with the NDP, Liberal Party, and the Bloc Québécois to host two debates in both official languages.
“The decision for the debates to blend new and traditional media, including Facebook, Twitter, Vine, Instagram, YouTube, and Google, is an unprecedented step in Canadian politics and will ensure that the 2015 leaders’ debates will be the most accessible ever
“We are optimistic that this format best ensures that all Canadians from coast to coast to coast, young and old, in rural and remote communities will now have greater access than ever before to the debates. This protects the fundamental right of citizens to fully engage in the democratic process.
“We hope Stephen Harper will change his mind and rejoin the democratic process by participating in these important debates.”
