Green Party Statement on World Day Against Trafficking in Persons

(OTTAWA) -  Elizabeth May, Leader of the Green Party of Canada and MP (Saanich- Gulf Islands), issued the following statement on World Day Against Trafficking in Persons:

“Today is a day to recognize that more needs to be done about the trade in human misery known as “human trafficking.”

“The trafficking of human beings is an affront to all humans. We must step up policing resources, social programs, and help for those who have essentially been enslaved.  Groups like the Joy Smith Foundation do important work to rescue those who have been ensnared in this modern-day slave trade.”

“Today, on World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, let’s work together to end the sale of our fellow humans once and for all.”
