(OTTAWA) – Elizabeth May, Leader of the Green Party of Canada (MP, Saanich-Gulf Islands), released the following statement:
“Andrew Weaver and the BC Greens team have demonstrated what Greens do best: collaborate to work in the best interest of people. Their tireless efforts over the past few weeks have ensured the best interests of British Columbians are being put first. A Supply and Confidence Agreement, which allows the BC Greens caucus to support only votes of confidence, means British Columbians will have stable government and a continued voice of change they can count on.
“Both the BC Greens and BC NDP have stated their clear opposition to the Kinder Morgan Trans Mountain pipeline project, and the environmentally destructive and unnecessary Site C Dam. BC Greens have been adamant about the need for electoral reform and getting big money out of politics. The opportunity for real change is enormous.
“I congratulate Andrew Weaver and the BC Greens caucus on their unprecedented breakthrough in British Columbia. We are hopeful for the future," Ms. May said.
