Annamie Paul congratulates Sasha Zavarella on York Centre nomination

OTTAWA – Green Party Leader Annamie Paul congratulated Sasha Zavarella and his team for winning the Party nomination in the riding of York Centre, Ontario.

“Sasha will be a strong candidate for the Greens in York Centre” said Ms. Paul. “Running a campaign during a pandemic is no easy task, so I’d like to thank Sasha as well as his opponent DeiJaumar Clarke for all their hard work. It’s an exciting time for the Greens, let’s add York Centre to our list of successes!”

Born and raised in Toronto, Sasha is a lifelong entrepreneur who felt compelled to run for the Green Party of Canada as a tangible way to impact and improve the lives of his fellow Canadians. Mr. Zavarella knows first-hand the challenges that come with being a LGBTQ+ millennial, and wants to reimagine electoral reform while also reworking Canadian democracy to better serve, and include all Canada’s citizens.

"First, I'd like to extend my congratulations to Annamie Paul on becoming the new Leader of the Green Party of Canada,” said Mr. Zavarella.  “Second, I'd like to say to the good people of York Centre that we are living in a rapidly changing world. Looking around us we see forest fires, coastal floods, ice melting and rising prices. We need to start talking. Talking about what's going to make our future: safer, greener, more just and more equitable, so that no one is left behind. The beginning in now, and I invite everyone to join us on the adventure"

Mr. Zavarella is a graduate of Seneca College for Police Foundations, York University for Alternative Dispute Resolution and the Future Legislators program at Ryerson University. He currently works as a manager in the power sector, and is a freelance photographer.
