OTTAWA – The Green Party of Canada extends its deepest condolences to Jewish communities in Israel and around the world following the devastating tragedy that occured during a gathering to celebrate the Lag B’Omer holiday at Mount Meron. At least 45 people died and over 150 people were injured in a stampede at the celebration site early Friday morning.
“Our hearts go out to all those who have lost loved ones and we wish a speedy recovery to those who were injured,” said Green Party Leader Annamie Paul. “That such a disaster could occur in the midst of a joyful outdoor celebration is almost unimaginable. We are all deeply saddened and send our profound condolences. Baruch Dayan Haemet.”
