Ontario Nurses support the Green Party’s Drug Plan

(OTTAWA) Yesterday, the Registered Nurses' Association of Ontario (RNAO) voiced their support for the Green Party’s National Pharmacare Plan.

“I am pleased to have the RNAO’s support,” said Elizabeth May, Leader of the Green Party of Canada (Saanich – Gulf Islands). “A National Pharmacare Plan makes both health and economic sense.”

“Our National Pharmacare Plan will, through the advantage of bulk buying, save Canadians $11 billion each year,” continued May. “The plan will especially benefit senior citizens, who spend the most on prescription medication, and allow physicians and doctors to better track if patients are at risk of dangerous over-medication.”

“We announced our plan for ‘Phase II’ of Canada’s universal healthcare system in July. It is encouraging to see other parties join our call to establish national pharmacare plan. Green MPs will work with other parties in the next government to make this a reality.”

“Nurses are on the front lines of the Canadian health care system,” said May. “They know what areas of our healthcare need improvement.”
